Feralia.net blog. episode 24: spring writing update

As we wait for the last few things for the release of Feralia: Requiem of Mist, the second Feralia story, I’ve been hard at work on my third book. I’m not ready to announce the title or any story info yet, but my current goal is to have it released no later than a year after Requiem of Mist. I’m currently writing chapter 10.

As always, thanks so much for your patience and for sticking with me!

Crazy convention schedule & thank you’s!

Sorry for the lack of updates here! My convention schedule has had me at or preparing for cons more often than not. Since my last update I’ve attended/worked at Tekko, Sakura Matsuri, Sakura Sunday, The Great Philadelphia Comic Con (while the rest of our crew was at Wicomicon) and finally, this past weekend, Zenkaikon.

First off, thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us! I hope that everyone who picked up a copy of Feralia: Revised Edition enjoys reading it! Also thanks to all the staff at these shows who helped us out!

So this weekend (Tidewater Comic Con) will be 9 shows in 8 weeks, about half way through a span of 14 shows in 14 weeks!

While it’s crazy, it’s awesome to get to see friends and meet cool people including fellow writers and artists! Once things slow down for me I plan on featuring more of these awesome people here on the blog.

Surprisingly I’ve also been able to get some writing done fairly regularly as well. (I’ll save that for the next update.)

Remember to check out our con schedule here – I hope to see ya at an event near you!

Come see me at Tekko!

Awesome Con was a lot of fun, especially because of all of the Star Wars exhibits and guests. Thanks to everyone who stopped by! I hope all you new readers enjoy the story!
tekko 2018
Next up on our crazy-busy schedule is Tekko, in Pittsburgh, PA. At Alicia’s Anime we always look forward to this show because not only is it located close to where I grew up (so I always get to see a bunch of family and friends), but it’s also the first show we attended as Alicia’s Anime, back in 2005! There’s always a ton of fun stuff to do, featuring anime, gaming, music, fashion and pop culture! Stop by and see me at our booth there this weekend!

Feralia.net blog. episode 22: Disney catch-up

You’d think with being the parent of a pre-schooler I’d have no problem keeping up with kids movies. But (and I think it’s largely due to my daughter’s obsession with Star Wars) some of them slip by us once in a while, so it’s always fun to catch up. Recently we were able to watch 2 that we’d missed from the past couple years.
moana
The first was 2016’s Moana, and honestly I can’t believe it took us so long to see it. I think it’s amazing. It easily takes a spot as one of my favorite kid’s movies (if I had to rank it, at least in my top 5). It’s fun to watch over and over (which is fortunate as much as we’ve been), it looks amazing, and has great music. Even The Rock (yes, I’m still calling him the Rock) shines in his song as he voices Maui. Moana herself is a strong, charming and lovable main character and is really the heart of what is a warm and wonderful story. I can’t recommend this movie enough.

The next one we watched was last year’s live action Beauty and the Beast. Personally this is one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises I remember ever having with movies in general. While I love Disney, the original didn’t do that much for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a wonderful movie. Maybe the mushiness was just too much for me back at that age, or maybe I was too into sci-fi and comics. Whatever the case, I absolutely loved this movie – I personally enjoyed it far more than the original. Maybe at the age I’m at now I don’t mind the mushiness so much. Regardless, I thought it looked amazing, it made me laugh, and it got me pretty choked up at points. Another point deserving mention is Emma Watson’s performance. I’m already a big fan of hers, so this movie had a big plus going into it. But personally I felt like she carried the movie and by far I preferred her Belle over the original as she made the character much more likable and sincere.

So if you haven’t yet, definetly give both Moana and the live action Beauty and the Beast a watch. I think they’re up there with the best Disney movies!
